Female Genital Mutilation- harm or benefit?

Otherwise known as FGM, it is a violation of human rights to women and young girls all over the world. It is being practised in 27 African countries, Middle East and Asia for social and cultural reasons.

FGM causes urinal infections, cysts developing and even discrimination among women and many more. It is the removal of healthy genital tissue for no just cause or benefit which will interfere with the natural function of a woman’s body. Sometimes this procedure leads to death and excessive bleeding.

Have a look at our events page and you will see that AHPN was represented in an FGM conference in Belgium with many other women to voice their opinions on this practice.
