Our mission, vision and values
AHPN's mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of African descent communities living in the UK who are disproportionately affected by long term health conditions such as HIV, mental health, diabetes and obesity.
Our vision is to narrow the health inequality gap by ensuring that Black communities in the UK have equal access to services, support and information. This is achieved through a human rights-based approach that ensures that the design, delivery and monitoring of health and cares services are tailored around the needs of Black people in the UK.
Our values commit AHPN to being a leading independent voice for achieving the human rights of Black communities in the UK, through:
Inclusivity and involvement
Education and empowerment
Partnership and collaboration
Community focus and a global perspective.
Our priority areas of work in health are:
HIV and sexual health
Sickle Cell and Thalassemia
