HIV Cure Close

4/10/2016

British man may become first person to be cured of HIV. After receiving therapy, the virus was undetectable in the patients blood. This breakthrough therapy was a result of collaboration between 5 of the top universities in the UK.

The patient was the first of 50 people to complete a trial of the ambitious treatment which launches a two-stage “kick and kill” attack on the virus.

The new therapy is unique in that it tracks down and destroy HIV in every part of the body —including in the dormant cells that evade current treatments.

AHPN supports and welcomes the results found in this trial. If further research indicates that this form of therapy in effective, it should be provided to everyone who needs it.
